Introduction

When only Native Americans lived in North America, a group of people across the Atlantic evolved a plan. These people were the Pilgrims. They made a plan to come to the New World and set up a colony, so that they might practice whichever religion they wanted. Learn about the plans they made to get to the New World. Then, you will embark on a magnificent journey as you become a Pilgrim in the 1600's. Live the adventure when you voyage on the Mayflower to the New World!

Task

Become one of the pilgrims and write a 10 day  journal about your voyage on the Mayflower. You need to...

bullet

Choose an aspect of the person you are going to be. This person may either be the captain of the ship, one of the priests, a teenager, or a mother or father with four children.

bullet

Express intimate feelings that you think that person would be feeling while on the voyage.

bullet

Explain the setting they are in and how that makes them feel.

bullet

Develop different situations for them to be in and how they deal with conflicts under pressure.

Process

  2. Choose an aspect of a person from above you want to be.

  3. Research on these websites and others about the Pilgrims' voyage to the New World.

  5. On the top of each page of your journal write the date that you are writing it. In the time that the actual voyage happened. You do not have to write every day. There could be a time span in which to write in it.
